Janie Darovskikh is a figurative artist who works in a variety of mediums including watercolors, oils, mixed media and traditional sculpting methods such as carving, clay and wax modeling, plaster and bronze casting. She is the recipient of two Fulbright grants, the Suomalainen Perustus Grant, support from the New York Foundation of the Arts and numerous other awards. She exhibits in the United States & internationally.
Janie is passionate about Nordic mythology, cultural exchange and her belief in art as an international language. A native of upstate New York, her art has taken her to Kulusuk, Greenland; the Ural Mountains of Russia; Yangshuo, China; and to Finland, Sweden, Lithuania and Latvia. She has lived and worked as an artist in residence in Akureyri, Iceland; Tallinn, Estonia; and Helsinki, Finland.
Janie is the founder of ANAA -- the American Nordic Artist’s Association, a nonprofit association dedicated to promoting international understanding through artistic exchanges.
